Professor Ana Lau Jaiven holds a BA and MA in History from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and a Ph.D. in History from the Universidad Iberoamericana. She is a feminist; a research professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), Xochimilco Campus, in the Department of Politics and Culture. She teaches the Masters's in Women's Studies and the recently created Ph.D. in Feminist Studies.

She currently serves as Coordinator of the Master's Program in Women's Studies. She belongs to the National System of Researchers (SNI) and is a PRODEP researcher (Programa para el Desarrollo Profesional Docente).

In 2015 she was recognized with the "Clementina Díaz y de Ovando" award for her research career in Women's and Gender History by the Instituto de Estudios de las Revoluciones de México (INEHRM).

Her research areas revolve around the history of Mexican feminism, women's suffrage, and organized women's groups throughout the 20th century. She has published and coordinated several books on the history of women in the Mexican revolution and how suffrage was recognized in the country, as well as on citizenship. In addition, she has written multiple articles and essays in collective books and academic journals.
She is currently engaged in examining the groups that fought for suffrage and, specifically, with Dr. Marysa Navarro, researches the creation and development of the Inter-American Commission of Women.
