Profile
Professor Gilberto Hernández Cárdenas is assigned to the Biology Department of the Biological and Health Sciences Division of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus since 1995.
He completed his undergraduate studies at UAM Iztapalapa Campus, obtaining a BSc degree in Biology and an MSc degree in Geographic Information Systems at the UNIGIS program of the University of Salzburg, Austria.
He has published five books and 19 articles in indexed journals and taught 94 courses at the undergraduate level, and 15 at the graduate level and has made more than 80 presentations at specialized academic events. He has done research stays at the University of Lincoln Nebraska, Nebraska, USA and at CICESE in Ensenada, Baja California.
In university management, he has been Head of the Biology Department from 2013 to 2017, Head of the Ecology Area and Faculty Representative to the Academic Council of the Iztapalapa Campus on two occasions and faculty representative to the Divisional Council of Biological and Health Sciences.
