Professor Gustavo Adolfo Chápela Castañares is a Full Professor at the Department of Physics of the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Iztapalapa Campus.

He received his B.Sc. degree from the Faculty of Chemical Sciences, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), his M.Sc. degree in Chemistry from Rice University, Texas, USA, in 1972, and his Ph.D. degree from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, in 1975.
