Profile
Dr. Fabiola Margarita Martínez Licona holds a degree and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa campus, in Mexico City, and a Ph.D. in Administrative Sciences with a focus on Economic Analysis and Public Policy.
She is a faculty member at the same institution, where she has taught more than 250 courses in undergraduate and graduate programs within the Department of Electrical Engineering. She is part of the National Laboratory for Research in Medical Instrumentation and Imaging (CI3M) and is affiliated with the Optimization and Artificial Intelligence research area.
She has collaborated with leading national institutions, including the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán, the Instituto Nacional de Rehabilitación, and the Instituto Nacional de Cancerología. Internationally, she has contributed to projects related to Speech Technologies and Biomedical Engineering, as well as graduate thesis supervision.
She has published in national and international forums in areas such as Biomedical Engineering, Signal Processing, and Artificial Intelligence, and is the author of the book Introduction to Health Economics for Biomedical Engineers.
She collaborates with the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE), where she previously served as Director of the Clinical Engineering Division. She is currently a member of its Administrative Council and Coordinator of the Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Committee. She also serves as Vice President of the Regional Council of Biomedical Engineering for Latin America (CORAL).
