Profile
Professor Edith Cortés Barberena received her B.S. in Experimental Biology, M.S. in Experimental Biology and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus. She is currently a Professor attached to the Department of Health Sciences, Division of Biological and Health Sciences, UAM Iztapalapa Campus.
Dr. Cortés belongs to the Cell Biology and Flow Cytometry Laboratory, where she collaborates in the following lines of work: "Study of the effects associated with malnutrition" and "Studies with flow cytometry in basic and clinical research".
Dr. Cortés is a member of SNI, level I, and has a Desirable Profile Recognition from PRODEP (SEP). She is co-author of 35 research articles, eight books or book chapters, and has given conferences. She has directed 14 undergraduate and four graduate students. She teaches courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has participated in several committees and commissions within UAM and CONACYT. She belongs to the Mexican Society of Genetics, and was president of this Society during the period 2017-2019.
