Profile
Doctor María Del Carmen Fajardo Ortiz is a Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), attached to the Department of Biotechnology, Microbiology Area. She teaches in the undergraduate courses of Industrial Biochemical Engineering and Food Engineering, teaching Analytical Chemistry and Advanced Analytical Chemistry, as well as in the Postgraduate Program in Biotechnology, teaching Instrumental Analytical Methods.
She studied Biology at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Facultad de Ciencias, the Master in Biotechnology at UAM Unidad Iztapalapa and the Ph.D. in Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. She is a member of the National System of Researchers and has the Desirable Profile (PRODEP).
To date, she has directed/advised theses of Specialty, Master's and Doctorate of the Postgraduate Program in Biotechnology at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. The research line cultivated is wastewater treatment, using biological, aerobic, and anaerobic processes for the removal of complex wastewater. In the last 5 years, two Specialty Thesis, three Master's Thesis, and three Doctoral Thesis; 11 publications in scientific journals, seven papers presented in National Congresses and four in International Congresses. 20 years of teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels.
