Profile

Professor Yolanda Margarita Sánchez Castilleja was born in Mexico City. She completed her basic and high school education at Colegio Francés del Pedregal and Instituto Miguel Ángel, A.C. She graduated from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco in 1991 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics (MVZ). She attended courses in Statistics and Clinical Immunology at UAM Xochimilco Campus and Escuela Superior de Medicina, Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) respectively. She obtained in 2013 the degree of Doctor in Veterinary Sciences, at the Agrarian University, National Center of Agricultural Health, in Havana, Cuba. She has been a professor in the MVZ degree program at UAM Xochimilco Campus from 1992 to date. She has the desirable profile PRODEP 2014-2020. She is currently Coordinator of the Biological and Health Sciences Divisional Trunk.

Doctor Sánchez was the supervisor of bacteriologicals at the National Production of Veterinary Biologicals (PRONABIVE), SAGARPA in 1996. In 1999, she was Head of the Diagnostic Department in the National Campaign for the Eradication of Bovine Tuberculosis and Brucellosis, SAGARPA. That same year she was appointed Secretary of the Animal Welfare Committee by the National Technical Advisory Council of Animal Health (CONASA).

She is the author or co-author of 13 articles, one book, one master presentation, and 53 presentations at events and congresses. She has participated as moderator in organizing, scientific, and evaluating committees of seven congresses and events of UAM Xochimilco Campus and SAGARPA. She has advised 63 social services.
