Profile

Professor Miguel Sergio Hernández Jiménez is a graduate in Biochemical Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). Subsequently, he completed his master's studies in Chemical Engineering at the same university. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Biotechnology. He has done research stays at the Tropical Agriculture Research Center (CIAT) in Colombia, at Unit 180 of the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), at the University of Provence in Marseille, France, and most recently at the Catholic University of Temuco.

He has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at the UAM Iztapalapa Campus and was also an Associate Professor in the Department of Experimental Teaching and Chemical Engineering at the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Ecatepec. He worked as a Research Assistant in the bioprocess pilot plant of the Chemical Engineering area of the UAM Iztapalapa Campus, and since 2000 he has been an academic at UAM. He was Academic Technician "E" of the Department of Process Engineering and Hydraulics at the UAM Iztapalapa Campus. Also coordinator of teaching and research laboratories of the Department of Process Engineering and Hydraulics of the UAM Iztapalapa Campus. He is currently Academic Technician "E" of the Department of Processes and Technology and Coordinator of the Teaching Laboratories of the Division of Natural Sciences and Engineering at UAM Cuajimalpa Campus.

Professor Hernández has also worked as Operations Engineer in the start-up and operation of the BIOCYDMR system at POLICYD, S.A. de C.V. Since 1997 he has worked in the area of environmental biotechnology and fermentation technologies.

He has published several scientific articles in national and international journals, he is co-author of some books: mycofactories Book (2011). Purificación; Sustentabilidad una visión multidisciplinaria (2016) and usos del biogás (2017).
