Profile
Professor Fernando Xicoténcatl Plata Pérez was born in Mexico City in 1961; he has a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Specialty in Mathematical Models for Fauna), he is a Professor with the Research Line: Discipline, Animal Production and the Subdisciplines: Cattle, Sheep nutrition, and production systems and Use of additives in ruminant nutrition. Discipline: Fish and Wildlife Subdisciplines: Hunting, Habitat Influence, Population Dynamics, and Wildlife Management and Conservation.
He has a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). His Social Service was performed in the Coordinated Services of Public Health. Sanitary Inspection (1982-1983), Thesis title. "Study of an outbreak of abortions in a herd of Holstein cattle located in Oaxaca, Oax." Master's Degree at the Colegio de Postgraduados en Ciencias (livestock) from 1989 to 1992, Thesis Title. "Effect of a probiotic (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on ruminal fermentation, in situ digestibility and intake in cattle fed three levels of oat straw." and Ph.D. at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in Biological Sciences. Thesis title: Proposal of a carrying capacity model for white-tailed deer, which incorporates energy requirement, presence of water, and escape cover.
Member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) Level I since 2011. Author of 50 scientific articles and three books.
