Profile
Professor Ramón Soriano Robles studied Animal production at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus 1987-1991 and Ph.D. at the University of London (Wye College) in sustainable agriculture. He has written and collaborated on about 35 research papers published in various indexed journals, most of them with impact factor. He has also collaborated and written around 35 book chapters, more than 100 presentations at national and international conferences. He has directed two doctoral theses, has three doctoral theses in process of graduation, directed a post doctoral project with PRODEP funding. He has also collaborated as advisor in three doctoral theses.
He has been the director of master's theses on ten occasions, all of which have been completed. One of his students won the Julieta Fierro award, is founder of MURLOTA egg production organization farms, and participated in the program "Shark tank" Mexico winning 5 million pesos. He has also directed more than 30 social services at UAM. He has given about 20 lectures by invitation and about 30 lectures of scientific dissemination. He has participated in several interviews for radio and TV.
He belonged to the SNI as a candidate and level I until 2017, this year he hopes to return. He also belonged to PRODEP as desirable profile. He is waiting to renew his application. He has taught more than 120 undergraduate and graduate courses. He has directed and completed seven research projects throughout his career, two with CONACyT funding and two with PRODEP funding. The rest with university funding only.
He belonged to the academic commissions of the master's and doctorate in agricultural sciences between 2008 and 2017, in that period he participated in the creation of the doctorate in agricultural sciences. He also participated in the reform of the curriculum of the bachelor's degree in animal production. He has been head of the department of reproductive biology (2001-2005) and coordinator of the bachelor's degree in animal production (2007-2009). His last administrative position was head of the research area in assisted animal reproduction (2017-2019). He has been representative of the professors of his department before the academic council of the UAM Iztapalapa Campus and the division of Biological and Health Sciences. As a student he held the same positions only representing the students of his department and in his life as a postgraduate he was president of the PGA (Posgraduates association) from 1994 to 1995.
He currently participates in the network of the dairy production chain since 2016, composed of colleagues from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the UAM and the Center for Research in Agricultural and Rural Sciences (ICAR) of the UAEMEX.
This network has a project funded by the PROGRAM OF SUPPORT FOR RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION PROJECTS (PAPIIT) OF UNAM from 2015 to date and until 2022. I am also responsible and director of the divisional project of the UAM "Agroforestry in arid and semi-arid zones in Mexico".
