Profile

Professor Julieta Anabell Díaz Juárez is a Surgeon from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus, institution that allowed her to develop her vocation as a researcher. During her undergraduate studies, she was able to develop research directed by her professors whose results were disseminated in Student Research Congresses with Honorable Mention. She completed her postgraduate studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). At the School of Medicine she studied the Master in Basic Sciences (Pharmacology) and obtained the degree of Doctor in Biomedical Sciences whose research in Hepatic Regeneration was directed by Dr. Rolando Hernandez-Muñoz of the Institute of Cellular Physiology. The learning acquired at UAM Xochimilco Campus (based on facing challenges to address the greatest adversities, i.e., the necessary strength for professional practice) is what motivated her to continue a Postdoctorate at the University of California San Diego, USA, next to a world-renowned researcher, Dr. Wolfgang Dillmann, expert in Gene Therapy applied to Diabetes Mellitus.

She has participated in binational projects with Dr. Jorge Suarez, a recognized researcher in the Medical Area at UCSD. Therefore, she considers herself a Mexican researcher proud of the higher education institutions in Mexico, as well as the support received by CONACyT and the University of California. She is currently a member of the National System of Researchers, and her scientific research products can be found in recognized scientific indexes. She has been teaching at the undergraduate level for 30 continuous years, the first ten years as an adjunct professor and the last ten years as a Professor-Researcher. The main objectives in her professional life are focused on: training professionals with a scientific projection in the medical area and at the same time developing technological innovation to address health problems.
