Professor Ociel Flores Flores studied Literature, Linguistics and Translation Theory at several universities: Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM); University of Sofia, Bulgaria; Centro de Cooperación Iberoamericana, Madrid-Universidad Complutense; University of Louisville, Kentucky; Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico; French Institute of Latin America, Mexico. His latest academic degrees: Habilitation to Conduct Doctoral Research, Université de Strasbourg, France (2016), and Ph.D. in General and Comparative Literature, Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris III (1997).
He has been responsible for creating the Master's Degree in Contemporary Mexican Literature currently taught at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus, and of which he is now coordinator. In the field of Applied Linguistics, he has proposed new programs for the learning of foreign languages, such as the courses of Reading Comprehension in French II.
His research has resulted in numerous articles published in national and foreign journals and several collective books in CD and printed format. Recently published are the book Nombrar el silencio. La palabra ausente en la obra de Octavio Paz (UAM-Azcapotzalco Campus) and a novel Celestina montó a la Bestia. He has translated from French books on anthropology, such as Farewell to the body, by David Le Breton.
His interests are currently focused on contemporary Latin American literature, particularly on the problems linked to religiosity-laicity in poetry and narrative.
