Professor Iarene Argelia Tovar Romero was born in July 1969 in Mexico City, she studied the Doctorate in Design, New Technologies Line at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus; the Master in Design, New Technologies Line at the UAM Azcapotzalco Campus where she obtained the University Merit Medal in Master's studies for an average of 10; Specialization in Hypermedia Design and New Technologies at the UAM Azcapotzalco Campus; the Diploma in Methods and Techniques of Audiovisual Media at the UAM Azcapotzalco Campus and the Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Communication Design at the UAM Azcapotzalco Campus, where she was awarded the University Medal of Merit for her studies.

She is a Professor with a Desirable Profile Recognition by the Teacher Improvement Program PROMEP-PRODEP SEP. She has the Stimulus to the Outstanding Academic Career (Highest level), Scholarship to Support the Permanence for five years. Scholarship of Recognition to the Teaching Career Level D.

She has participated as Thesis Director at the Master's and Doctorate levels and as a member of the jury for obtaining the degree in the Master's and Doctorate of the Graduate Program in Information Design and Visualization.

To date, she has published 35 refereed research articles at the national level, and two in international publications specializing in design, education, and new technologies. She has given 25 conferences at the national level, and one abroad in different forums specialized in education, design, and new technologies.

She has obtained the following awards: Medal for University Merit by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Azcapotzalco Campus for Graduate Studies. Teaching Award 2018 by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Azcapotzalco Campus.

She has taught in the Specialty in Hypermedia Design and New Technologies at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco Campus. Currently, she teaches Learning Teaching Units in different trimesters of the Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Communication Design. She teaches in the Postgraduate Program in Information Design and Visualization at Master´s and Doctorate levels.

She coordinated the Research Group in Education and Design, where she conducts research on the subject, and served as a representative of the Group in Formation: Education and Design before PROMEP for more than five years. She coordinated the Departmental Teaching Group of the Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Communication Design.

She has participated as a juror in competitive examinations, has been a juror in the Teaching and Research Award, commissioned to grant the Teaching Scholarship, and has participated as a guest to evaluate online the Applications for "Recognition and/or support to Full-Time Professors with Desirable Profile", Call 2017 PRODEP. She has participated as a Jury in the Admissions Conference for applicants to the Postgraduate Program in Information Design and Visualization. She has been invited as a reviewer of several articles in periodicals and has been a member of the Divisional Council and the Divisional Review Committee.
