Profile

Professor Ricardo Torres Jiménez is a Sociologist, specialist in urban studies. He is attached to the Research Area "Theory and Analysis of Politics and the Methodology Curricular Axis of the Department of Sociology, Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus.

Master´s in Metropolitan Planning by the UAM Azcapotzalco Campus. He has published several research articles on street commerce, the case of Mexico City; an essay on the influence of Smithian political economy on Mexican liberal thought during the Reformation; chapters of collective books: Sociodemographic, citizen action and symbolic elements in the spaces of political campaign closings; IN-CONCLUSIONS (theoretical-methodological correlate); Theoretical-methodological approach, the survey in the public demonstration; Electoral processes: between probabilistic and non-probabilistic; About the episteme on social movements; Santa Barbara: delimitation, location, and public space.

To a large extent, the aforementioned publications have been the result of the collective work of the members of the Area of Theory and Analysis of Politics (which defines its subject matter in the study of the implications between political culture, political processes, and the construction of identities) and materialized through the methodological linkage in the empirical field with the important participation of sociology students. This way of organizing the research has made it possible to transmit to the students the way in which research methods and techniques are selected, defined, and applied, underlining that sociological analysis goes where social interaction is verified, and to unravel its meaning, theoretical-methodological positioning is required.
