Profile
Dr. Graciela Román-Alonso is a professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in Mexico City, where she has worked since 1988. She earned her Ph.D. in 1997 from the Université de Technologie de Compiègne in France, specializing in parallel computing and load balancing.
At UAM, she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in the Computing and Information Technology programs. In recognition of her outstanding teaching, she received the Teaching Excellence Award in 2021. Since 2009, she has been an active Level 1 member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII).
From 2010 to 2012, Dr. Román-Alonso completed a sabbatical at the University of Ottawa in Canada, where she focused on challenges in distributed systems within vehicular networks—an experience that deepened her expertise in intelligent traffic control strategies.
Since November 2024, she has been a visiting professor at the National College of Ireland, conducting research on emerging challenges in cloud computing.
