Profile

Professor Elena Esperanza SeguraJauregui Álvarez has a degree in Architecture and a Master´s in Visual Arts from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She has been a Professor at the UNAM and at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) since 1988.

She has written more than 20 texts, including books and specialized articles on Architecture, Iconography and Museography, including "Glosario Ilustrado de la Colonia Juárez", "Inventario de la Colonia Juárez". She has also illustrated books "Cuentos de aquí y de allá" and "Cuenta cuentos" by Esther Jacobs, published by Editorial Trillas. Anuario de Estudios Urbanos 1996 and 2001 (UAM Azcapotzalco Campus), Revista Casa del tiempo (UAM-2002). He has had 35 group exhibitions and 10 solo exhibitions, with his own work.

Her graphic work is part of the collections of the UNAM and UAM, the Bank of Mexico, as well as the Museum of Modern Art of Peru, Museo de L'incisione in Biella Italy, Museum of Art, Cluj Romania, Museo de la Estampa Mexico, Casa de las Americas Cuba, Bank of Mexico.

He has curated and museographed nearly 300 exhibitions in UAM Galleries, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Museo de San Carlos, Museo Dolores Olmedo, Centro Vito Alesio Robles in Saltillo, among others. He has received several awards and distinctions, among which stand out: In 1994, Prize for the best Professor of Architecture at the UAM Unidad Azcapotzalco, awarded by the College of Architects, and in 1996 Second place in the Biennial of Engraving in Peru.

In the 30 years of work at UAM, she held positions as: Head of the Department of Plastic Arts at UAM, Director of Plastic and Performing Arts at UAM and Academic Secretary of the Division of Communication Sciences and Design, UAM Cuajimalpa Campus.
