Dr. María Teresa Ramírez Silva is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry of the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa campus.

She completed her Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Biology Chemistry at the Faculty of Higher Studies Cuautitlán, UNAM. She obtained her Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry in the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering at UAM Iztapalapa in 1996, and conducted a research stay with Professor Salvador Alegret from the Sensors Group at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1997.
