Profile

Professor Yolanda Mercader Martínez works at the Department of Education and Communication, at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus. She studied Library Science and Social Anthropology obtaining a master's degree.

Since 1975 she has taught theoretical classes at the undergraduate level in the Bachelor of Social Communication, in the modules of film, radio, and television. Professor of cinema, in charge of designing the contents of the Film subject for the Universidad Panamericana, where she taught film and documentary classes. In the fields of Bibliography, she has worked on Mexican Codices, Bibliography, and Colonial and Mexican Hemorography of the 19th century.

She has also been the director of the National Library of Anthropology and History, and the Department of Historical Studies of the National Institute of Anthropology and History. She has participated in the FAO project on fisheries development, as well as in the Coordination of all events throughout 450 years of printing, sponsored by Conaculta. She has had six photography exhibitions of her own.

In the field of Diffusion, she has coordinated exhibitions such as "Mexican Codices" exhibited at the Museum of Anthropology and History, "History of Printing in Mexico" at the Museum of Cultures, "Ex libris Mexicano" at the National Museum of History, "The antiquarian bookseller in Mexico" in the House of Tlaxcala. Also at the University of Texas at El Paso and the Santa Fe Museum, New Mexico. In the Border area, she has worked directly with institutions in Ciudad Juárez and El Paso, Texas. In the area of ​​Communication, she has participated in several national and international congresses and colloquiums, the results of which are shown in 35 research papers.

She has worked as coordinator of the Dictionary of the Mexican Revolution Project. She has also participated in the production of radio and fiction works, documentaries, video performances, and videos of video art and film history. She has been a member of the Chronicle Council of Mexico City. She has been the director of 123 undergraduate and five postgraduate theses at UAM, UP, and EMBA, and has also advised on Social Service projects. Author of ten books and 98 specialized articles, 28 conferences.

Professor Mercader has also received several academic awards such as the Scholarship to support the permanence of academic staff; Scholarship for the recognition of the teaching career; Promotion of an outstanding academic career; Promotion of academic degrees (master's degrees); Stimulus to teaching and research, all of this, granted by the UAM.
