Profile
Professor Margarita Beltrán Villavicencio is a Chemical Engineer and Master in Environmental Science and Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus. She received the University Merit Medal for her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees, a Diploma for the best students in Mexico, and an Academic Mention for the best Master's Thesis. Professional experience at IMP and industrial water treatment consulting as Head of Laboratory. Since 1991, she has been a Professor in the Area of Sustainable Technologies of the Department of Energy of the UAM Azcapotzalco Campus with recognition of desirable profile by the PRODEP, since 2007.
She teaches Chemical, Environmental and Industrial Engineering subjects. Research related to soil quality, restoration of contaminated soils, plastics in the environment, and water reuse. She has participated in management as Head of Area and President of the Editorial Board. Responsible for the divisional project Restoration of soils contaminated with metals and hydrocarbons and participant in the projects Advanced Oxidation Processes for the Conditioning of Wastewater for Reuse in Aquifer Recharge and Study of the presence and effects of microplastics in the environment. Co-author of 2 books and four book chapters. Advisor of more than 90 Integration Projects (equivalent to a bachelor's thesis) and more than 12 Master's Theses. Attendance to forums, congresses, publication in memoirs and scientific articles.
