Professor Ana María Guadalupe Monterrubio Aguilar was born in Mexico City in February 1953. She holds a degree in Graphic Design from Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City), 1971-1975. Special Mention for the degree work: "Towards a comprehensive concept of necessity in the theories of industrial and graphic design", 1987 and Specialization in Educational Technology by the Latin American Institute of Educational Communication (Mexico City), 1979-1980.

Within her field, she develops the following areas of research, Sciences of Arts and Letters: Principles of graphic composition and compositional analysis (she has proposed a pattern of analysis); theory of design and graphic design (she has developed specific topics, giving them their didactic version); theory of the image, she has generated a model that explains the creation -by the designer- and the decoding -by the perceiver- of images; principles of Islamic Design.
