Professor Óscar Mata Juárez is a poet, narrator, essayist and Professor and Researcher at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus. He studied his Bachelor´s degree in Hispanic Language and Literature and a Master´s in Mexican Literature at the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature of theUniversidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He holds a Ph.D. in Mexican Literature from UNAM.

He received the Malcolm Lowry National Literary Essay Award in 1987 and the José Revueltas National Literary Essay Award in 1991.
