Profile

Dr. Alfredo Odón Rodríguez González earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy with a specialization in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) from the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre at the University of Nottingham (United Kingdom, 1997), where he conducted research on radiofrequency coils and flow imaging under the supervision of Professor Sir Peter Mansfield, recipient of the 2003 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Physics from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco Campus (1990).

He is currently a Full-Time Full Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa Campus, where he has served since 1998.

His research focuses on the numerical analysis of electromagnetic fields generated by radiofrequency antennas for magnetic resonance imaging and their biomedical applications. His areas of expertise include traveling-wave technology for imaging large anatomical regions in ultra-high-field MRI systems, the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and biological matter, as well as waveguide design and the application of metamaterials. In addition to his research activities, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in magnetic resonance imaging and provides specialized training for radiologic technologists.
