Professor Claudia Kerik was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1957. She is an essayist, poet, translator and Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus.

A graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, she completed her doctoral studies at El Colegio de México. She has researched the urban poetics of Walter Benjamin applied to modern Mexican poetry, as well as the poetic representation of the modern city in poets inside and outside the canon, focusing her interests also on the artistic avant-garde and the war contexts in which much of the literary production of the twentieth century takes place (Mexican Stridentism, Poetry of the Spanish Civil War and Exile, Theater of the Absurd, Literature of the Holocaust, Poetry, and marginalization). Some of his publications are: Poemas escogidos, de Yehuda Amijái (Vuelta, 1990); En torno a Walter Benjamin (UAM, 1993); and Mira, tuvimos más que la vida. New selected poems by Yehuda Amijái (Elefanta Editorial, 2019).
