Professor María Laura Margarita Diaz Leal Aldana has a degree in Sociology from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM); a Master´s in History of Mexico, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM); Master´s in Systemic Family Therapy (ILEF); Doctorate in Family and Couple Psychotherapy (IREFAM). For more than 30 years, she has attended different updating and diploma programs in the areas of: addictions, education, international cooperation (fluent in English), society and territoriality, systemic understanding, individual, couple, and family therapy, gender, couple and family violence, social construction, work with adolescents, child sexual abuse, systemic sexual therapy, cinema as an experience for clinical work, social networks and health, therapeutic supervision, among others.
From 1986 to date, she has taught more than 103 quarterly courses (UAM Xochimilco Campus), practically the entire education program in Sociology. At UNAM, she has been responsible for the Writing and Documentary Research Workshop; professor of Cultural Anthropology, and the Seminar: Social and Politics of Mexico. In Postgraduate Specialization in Clinical Psychiatry (U. La Salle), Family and Social Context (ILEF), a teacher in different refresher courses given to social and health promoters. The educational purpose of communication for health, alcoholism for general practitioners, and sociology of addictions, among other participations.
She has advised terminal works of the UAM Xochimilco Campus and other Institutions of Higher Education linked to the area of professional development (23), participation at different times for the adaptation of the Bachelor's Degree in Sociology (UAM Xochimilco Campus). Direction of two Master's theses (ILEF), Development of Professional and Technical Research (11), the most recent: "Emotions in Mexican migrants in the U.S." (doctoral thesis). Publication of essays, articles, and lectures of 14 works in the above mentioned subjects; Refereeing of the book "Estudios de Familias" (UAM-Xochimilco Campus).
As an expert in social and related subjects, she has been a public servant; responsible for the Program against Addictions in the Mayor's Office of Iztacalco in Mexico City, where in addition, together with the UAM Xochimilco Campus and the Federal Health Secretariat, she created the "Diploma against Addictions" within the Center against Addictions (CENCA) of that jurisdiction. Additionally, she has been working as an individual, couple and family therapist for more than a decade.
