Professor Elisa Vega Ávila is a chemist from the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, has a Master's in Experimental Biology and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, degrees obtained at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM).
She has published in national and international journals, the article "An overview of colorimetric assay methods used to assess survival or proliferation of mammalian cells" being cited 180 times.
She currently has the Teaching and Research Scholarship (2019-2023) award granted by the UAM.
Among her disciplines, she mentions that experiments are carried out to evaluate the pharmacological and toxic properties of the metabolites present in plants used to treat diseases with infectious symptoms and cancer. On some occasions, some compounds are determined present in the fractions with biological activity.
