Dr. Víctor Manuel Cuevas Ahumada holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Azcapotzalco, a Master's degree in International Economics and Politics from CIDE, and both a Master's and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia (USA), with additional studies at the University of Colorado-Boulder and the University of California-Santa Barbara. He serves as a Professor-Researcher in the Department of Economics at UAM Azcapotzalco. He holds PRODEP Desirable Profile status, is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, and holds National Researcher Level III status in Mexico's Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII).

He has received prestigious awards, including the Jesús Silva-Herzog National Economic Research Award (2008), Best Article Award in Economía, Gestión y Desarrollo (2010), First Place in the UAM-A Textbook Writing Contest, and an Honorable Mention in the Metropolitan Research Award in Economics and Management (2004). He was a Fulbright-García Robles, CONACYT, CIDE, and Banco de México Fellow. Author of three single-authored books and coordinator of ten edited volumes, he has published widely in top indexed journals (such as The World Economy and CEPAL Review), with citations in over 34 countries.

He brings extensive university leadership experience, having served as Head of the Department of Economics, Coordinator of Undergraduate, Master's, and Integrated Master's/Ph.D. Programs, Secretary of the Economics and Administrative Sciences Evaluation Committee, Academic Councillor, Founder of the journal Gestión y Estrategia, and founder of award-winning research groups. Furthermore, he served on the Social Sciences Evaluation Committee for the SNII. He has taught in Mexico, the USA, Poland, and Ecuador across more than 300 courses, supervised nearly 150 terminal projects and graduate theses, and currently serves as a columnist for El Universal.
