Profile
Professor Mario Adolfo Espejo Serna holds a Ph.D. in Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). He is currently a Professor attached to the Department of Biology, Department of Biological and Health Sciences of the UAM Iztapalapa Campus, an institution in which he has worked for 35 years.
He is a botanist, and his line of research is Taxonomy and Systematics. For more than 25 years, he has been dedicated to the study of Mexican monocotyledons. He is currently developing research projects on the Bromeliaceae of Mexico and the epiphytic vascular plants of the country.
He has published more than 170 research articles in several national and international peer-reviewed and indexed journals, as well as several book chapters and books. He has also disseminated the results of his work in various academic forums, both national and international; he has directed several Master's and Ph.D. theses and has been a member of tutorial committees of undergraduate and graduate students; he has collaborated in divisional research projects, in sponsored agreements and in some other projects with foreign colleagues and with inter-institutional funding.
He has been a member of the National System of Researchers for 20 years. In addition, he has participated and actively participates in several national scientific societies. He has been secretary of diffusion and President of the Botanical Society of Mexico.
