Profile

Dr. Armando Sánchez Albarrán was born in Mexico City on January 22, 1956. He is a doctor in Sociology from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of UNAM in 2010 with the thesis: “Political culture in the Zumpango region”. It belongs to the National System of Researchers Level I. He has worked in the Department of Sociology of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco Campus, from 1984 to date. Assigned to the Rural Sociology Group, a founder, and the academic body of Rural Sociology, of which he is the current coordinator.

It belongs to the Mexican Association of Rural Studies, the Latin American Association of Rural Sociology and the Latin American Association of Sociology.

His research topics are rural sociology and social reproduction processes; Sociology of migrations; Social movements in the field; Local political culture and political clientelism.

His most recent publications are: in 2017, “Rural Civil Society: the case of Movement for Life, not the mine in Morelos ”, in Chávez-Lutz (coords.)“ Rural civil society in Mexico ”, in UAM Unit Unit Xochimilco, Mexico. In 2016, Cuellar and Sánchez, “Family, Migration and Social Reproduction in the Micro Region Ahitic, municipality of Plato Sánchez, Veracruz”, no 62, pp. 35-59. In Agrarian Studies Magazine, Mexico.
