Profile
Dr. Antonio Flores Macías holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus, where he specialized in temperate fruit production, greenhouse crop production, beekeeping management, and gained professional experience in the flower export market.
He earned a Master’s degree in International Management from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), where he developed strong leadership skills and expertise in guiding organizations with global reach. His graduate training focused on strategic decision-making and organizational management within complex and competitive international environments.
Dr. Flores Macías later completed a Ph.D. in Biological and Health Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, where his research explored soil fertility enhancement through aluminosilicate mineral materials derived from volcanic ash. These materials exhibit a porous, three-dimensional structure that provides selective absorption and ion-exchange properties, improving soil performance and fertility.
He currently serves as a professor and researcher in the Undergraduate Program in Agronomy at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus. His teaching focuses on business management, project evaluation, business plan development, and technical aspects of horticultural crop production in hydroponic systems and automated irrigation systems.
As a researcher in the Department of Agricultural and Animal Production, Dr. Flores Macías concentrates his work on plant nutrition and crop protection, with a particular focus on nutrient solutions for fertigation and hydroponic systems, and on the use of plant-derived secondary metabolites as natural alternatives for crop protection.
