Profile

Salvador Gaona Ramírez is a Full Professor (Level C) in the Department of Biology, Division of Biological and Health Sciences, at the Iztapalapa Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), where he teaches, conducts research, and provides academic advising in the field of biology.

In his research, Salvador Gaona Ramírez is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications focused primarily on zoology and the biology of Mexican wildlife.

His scientific output includes work on morphometric variation in small mammals, feeding habits of species such as the coyote (Canis latrans) and the barn owl (Tyto furcata), as well as various records of arthropods and pseudoscorpions associated with vertebrates in different regions of Mexico, expanding the knowledge of the country's biodiversity.

Some of the thematic areas in which he has worked include:

- Morphometry and variation in rodents and other mammals.

- Ecology and feeding of nocturnal birds of prey and wild carnivores. - Diversity of arthropods associated with vertebrates and geographic distribution of little-known groups, such as pseudoscorpions.

- Faunistic records and studies of mammals in various regions of Mexico.

These publications reflect a research approach focused on the biology of terrestrial vertebrates and their interaction with other organisms, as well as the systematics and distribution of animal groups relevant to the conservation and understanding of Mexican wildlife.
