Professor Juan Jesús Arias García is an Ethnologist with a Specialty and a Master's in Anthropological Sciences from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and has completed the Doctorate in Anthropological Sciences from UNAM.
He was a Research Assistant at the National Museum of Anthropology from 1968 to 1970, a full-time researcher at the National Institute of Anthropology and History from 1970 to 1974, he has been a Professor from October 16, 1974, to the date.
Coordinator of the tronco Inter Divisional in 1975, head of the Academic Support Office (now defunct) from 1975 to 1977, head of the Department of Social Relations (Sociology) from 1977 to 1979, professor of the Methodology Workshop in the Sociology Degree from 1979 to 1989, head of the Polemology and Hermeneutics Area from 1991 to 2002.
Professor of the following Modular Courses: Knowledge and Society; History and Society; Mexico: Economy, Politics, and Society; Methodology Workshop; Thesis Seminar, Master in Education Administration and Management.
Research Experience: Ethnography in the Contemporary Mayan Zone of Yucatan 1970-1971; and Demographic Problems of the Oaxacan Mixteca 1973-1974.
