Profile
Professor Cecilia Leonor Jiménez Sierra is a Doctor of Science (Biology) specializing in Demography, Reproductive Biology, and Population Dynamics of irrigated species, especially several species of cacti. She is interested in the traditional and sustainable use of natural resources and the socio-ecosystemic approach to achieve conservation and welfare of human communities.
She received her undergraduate degree from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) and her Masters and Ph.D. from the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She is a Professor in the Department of Biology at UAM Iztapalapa Campus, where she has worked for 29 years.
She has worked at FES-Zaragoza (UNAM) and CIBNOR (CONACyT). She has directed projects funded by CONACyT, CONABIO, and SEMARNAT; related to the conservation and evaluation of endangered species. Doctor Jiménez has 70 scientific publications and is co-author of several books. She has belonged to the SNI (Candidate) since 2020.
