Profile
Professor Nancy Coromoto Martín Guaregua studied for a degree in Chemistry at the Instituto Universitario RC, Venezuela, and at the University of Poitiers, France. She obtained a Master of Science (Chemistry) degree at the University of Poitiers, France, and a Doctor of Science (Chemistry) at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus, Mexico, in 1988. She made three research stays abroad: in the IRCE-Lyon, France (1979), in INTEVEP, Venezuela (1991-92), and ITQ-Valencia, Spain (2000-2001).
She has been a professor assigned to the Catalysis area of the Department of Chemistry at UAM Iztapalapa Campus from 1991 to date. She has a PROMEP profile from 2005 to 2021. She has graduated four chemistry graduate students and six chemistry graduate students as an advisor. She has published around 22 research articles in internationally circulated peer-reviewed journals, 24 articles in conference proceedings, and around 24 outreach and education articles.
Professor Coromoto held the following positions: Coordination of TG-Chemistry (2004-2008), Head of the Catalysis area: (2012-14), and Coordination of the Degree in Chemistry: (2014-16). Since November 2019, she has been part of the Steering Committee of the National Council for the evaluation of Teaching Programs in Chemical Sciences (CONAECQ_COPAES).
She has been an academic evaluator of CONACYT projects. She has also participated in evaluation processes for indexed journals of international circulation in the fields of catalysis, environmental chemistry, materials, and education. In addition, for the Iberoamerican Catalysis Congress (CICAT), AMIDIQ; and internationally at CONICET (Argentina). She was President of the Academy of Catalysis (ACAT AC) in the period 2011 to 2013 and is a member of the North American Catalysis Society (NACS), the Chemical Society of Mexico (SQM), and the Academy of Catalysis of Mexico (ACAT AC ). She is currently the representative of Mexico before the Iberoamerican Catalysis Federation (FISOCAT).
