Professor María del Carmen Maldonado Monroy is a full-time Professor attached to the Department of Hydrobiology of the Biological and Health Sciences Division of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus.

She is a Biologist from the Faculty of Sciences of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), a master's degree in Sea Sciences (biological and fishing oceanography).
