Profile
Professor Zubillaga obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry in 1984 and his Master's Degree in Chemistry in 1987 at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus. In 1994 he obtained a Doctor of Science degree from the same university, conducting his research at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) Institute of Cellular Physiology with Dr. Armando Gómez Puyou.
He has been a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at UAM Iztapalapa Campus since 1996. He has carried out research stays at the Institute of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (UAB) in Barcelona, Spain (2011), at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology in Valencia, Spain ( 2000), at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Forth Worth (1992) and at the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (1991).
He has directed five doctoral theses and six master's theses. He has published 28 research articles in indexed journals. He obtained the Research Prize 2011 awarded by the UAM. He is a founding member of the Protein Physical Chemistry, Structure and Design Branch of the Mexican Biochemical Society (2006).
He is a referee of the Journal of Molecular Catalysis B: Enzymatic, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, and Thermochimica Acta of Elsevier Publishing, as well as Springer's World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology. He is also an academic evaluator of CONACYT projects.
