Professor Sylvie Jeanne Turpin Marion is a Chemical engineer who graduated from the National School of Chemistry in Strasbourg, France, in 1978 and has a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Toulouse, France, received in 1981.
In January 1982, she joined the Department of Energy at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus, where she is a Research Professor.
She teaches several courses on the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering and Master of Science programs. She has been the advisor of more than 30 Environmental Engineering research B.S. thesis. She has been a synodal or co-advisor for more than 20 Master's and doctoral degree thesis, both in engineering and environmental sciences and public policy planning.
She is the author or co-author of several peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, technical reports, and conference proceedings, all related to environmental problems, solid urban waste management, sustainability training, or linking with industry and social sectors.
Among the positions she has held at the UAM are the coordination of the Bachelor of Environmental Engineering, the Head of the Department of Energy, the General Coordination of Academic Development, the Secretariat of the Azcapotzalco Campus, the General Coordination of Linking and Institutional Development of the UAM. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the UAM.
From her professional experience, her contribution can be noted in the discussion of the solid waste law proposal initiatives of Mexico City; the elaboration of the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Program of D.F., Period 2004 - 2008; Member of the Working Group related to the analysis and discussion of the project of Environmental Standard "Proy-NADF-007-RNAT-2004, Classification and Management Specifications for Construction Waste in the DF"; Member of the Committee for the Evaluation and Monitoring of the Green Plan of Mexico City, from 2006 to 2011; Member of the Technical Council Advisor on waste from Mexico City, since 2019.
