Profile

Professor Ana Marisela Maubert Franco is attached to the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus, in the Department of Basic Sciences, Materials Chemistry Area. She works in the research line of natural and synthetic materials applied to surface phenomena (adsorption, ion exchange, and catalysis).

She studied Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) 1969. Ph.D. at Claude Bernard Lyon University, France, 1973. Two post-doctoral stays: Institute for Research in Catalysis and Environment (IRCE, C.N.R.S.) in Lyon, France, from 1980-1982 and at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier, France. 1988 -1989.

Administrative and academic activities:
Founder of the Graduate Program in Science and Engineering (Lines in Materials and Environmental) CBI, UAM Azcapotzalco Campus, 1997.
Director of the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering, UAM Azcapotzalco Campus. 1993 - 1997.
Head of the Chemistry Area, CB Department, CBI Division, UAM Azcapotzalco Campus, 1983-1987.
Head of the Electron Microscopy Laboratory. I M P (Refining and Petrochemicals) 1973 - 1974.
Co-founder and Secretary of the Mexican Academy of Catalysis A.C. 1987-1991.
Member of the group of evaluators of the PIFI Program (PROFOCIE/ PFCE/ PROFEXCE), SESIC, SEP 2002 -2019.
Member of the International Committee of Natural Zeolites (ICNZ) 2002-2006.
Focal Point for Mexico of the following Networks and Projects coordinated by the Ibero-American Program of Science and Technology for Development, CYTED:
(a) Thematic Network V.C "Catalysts for Environmental Protection". 2001-2003. b) Project V.6: Development of adsorbents for the removal of heavy metals in industrial effluents 1998-04. c) Thematic Network Molecular Sieves, 1991-1993.
Member of the Jury of the National Chemistry Award "Andrés Manuel del Río" 1995. Appointed by ANUIES.
