Professor Fernando Antonio Aguilar Méndez holds a degree in Human Settlement Design from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), Xochimilco Campus, 1979-1982. Master's Degree in History from the UAM, Iztapalapa Campus, 1994-1996.

He has been a professor in the Department of Theory and Analysis at the Division of Sciences and Arts for Design, UAM Xochimilco Campus, since 1983. He teaches the degree of Territorial Planning in the content of Quantitative Methods for human settlement research.

He has published the research books: "The territorial expansion of the cities of Mexico, CyAD, UAM Xochimilco Campus, 1982", "Morelia: urbanization on ejidal land 1927–1994, CyAD, UAM Xochimilco Campus, 2001", and the textbook as co-author "Introduction to Quantitative Methods for Territorial Planning, CyAD, UAM Xochimilco Campus, 2019".

His area of interest has been the territorial expansion of the cities of Mexico. Since he entered the academic and research environment, he has developed a themed digital cartographic bank with population variables, housing, economics, the natural environment and multifactorial models of the 31 state capital cities of Mexico.
