Professor José Octavio Nateras Domínguez is a Full-Time Professor at the Department of Sociology of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus.

He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, line of social and environmental psychology and a Master in Social Psychology, both from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Specialty: Diploma of Coordinator of Operational Groups by the Interdisciplinary School of Learning and Group Communication (EIDAC). Mexico City. Degree in Social Psychology from UAM.

He has held the following institutional positions:

- Rector of Iztapalapa Campus (2014-2018).
- Director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (April 2010 to January 2014).
- Head of the Political Psychology and Identity Research Area (2009 to 2010).
- Head of the Sociology Department of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (January 1997 to January 2001).
- Academic Secretary of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (March 1993 to January 1997).
- Coordinator of Studies of the Bachelor's Degree in Social Psychology, Department of Sociology, Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (June 1989 - December 1991).
