Professor Pablo Torres Lima is an agricultural engineer and has a master of science in rural development from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Campus Xochimilco (UAM). He has another master's degree in sustainable agriculture from the University of Maine, USA, and holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Florida, USA.
His areas of interest are: sustainable regional development, environmental design, articulation of rural and urban spaces and populations, agroecology, agricultural systems and social organization, research methodologies, and agricultural education.
He is a professor at the Agricultural and Animal Production Department of the UAM, Xochimilco Campus (1981 to present). He has been a visiting professor at Brown University (2006-2010), among other US universities. He was also a fellow of the CONACYT and the Fulbright Program.
He has had twelve national and international funding as the main investigator for research projects since 1988.
He has published as author and co-author of 16 books and 80 refereed articles and book chapters in Spanish and English. In particular, he has published in the journal Science and has a patent as a Plant Variety Breeder. He has been the Founder and Director of two scientific research journals.
He was a Fulbright NEXUS Scholar during the period 2014 to 2016.
