Profile
Professor Jaime Amadeo Bustos Martínez is a Biologist, Pharmaceutical Chemist by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus, 1981. He has a Master's in Chemical Sciences from the Faculty of Chemistry of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), 1986, and a Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine UNAM, 1999. He has completed various courses and stays at different educational centers inside and outside the country.
He has participated in different lines of research from 1975 to date: hyperlipidemias in newborns. Purification of compounds with anti-diabetic properties. Molecular biology of mobile genetic elements in enterobacteria. Design and use of laboratory techniques in the diagnosis of viral infections. Persistent infections in vitro originated from the respiratory syncytial virus. Persistent infections in vitro created by the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1. Study of healthy bearers of Staphylococcus aureus in different populations. Characterization of respiratory syncytial virus strains obtained from children with acute respiratory infections. Characterization of virulence factors in strains of isolated bacteria in Mexico. Molecular characterization of strains of Staphylococcus aureus isolated on healthy carriers of the Mexican community. Effect of golden nanomaterials on cancer cells and normal cells. Synthesis of silver protein nanocomposites crown (AGNPC) and compounds related to antimicrobial activity. He has 56 articles in indexed journals, 165 Presentations in international congresses, and 173 papers in national congresses.
He has served as a teacher at CBS. Professor of the Masters in Agricultural Sciences; Pathology and oral medicine; Pharmaceutical sciences; Applied ecology; Dental sciences and doctorate in Biological and Health Sciences of the UAM. Co-director of 8 Ph.D. students and nine master's. Advice for 129 students to obtain the degrees of QFB, MVZ, Stomatology, Biology, Nutrition, and Medicine. Author of 3 chapters of the book "Microbiology and Medical Parasitology of Tay" and 2 chapters of the book "Microbiology: Bacteriology and Virology". Winner of the "Fourteenth Competition for the Teaching Award". Awarded by the UAM Xochimilco Campus.
Selected as one of the "Best Students of Mexico" by the CONACYT, the Mexican Institute of Culture, and the Journal of Mexico (1981). UNAM Scholarship for Master's Studies. Scholarship of the Ibero-American Cooperation Institute to make a research stay in Madrid, Spain. Scholarship to attend the IXTH International Congress of Virology in Glasgow, Scotland, granted by the Organizing Committee. Scholarship researcher for countries of Ibero-America, granted by the Ministry of Health and Consumption of Spain to make a research stay in Madrid, Spain. He has obtained all the scholarships and stimuli granted by the UAM. Annual Award for Research Areas in 2002, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2015, and 2019. He has the recognition of the desirable profile of PRODEP. Reviewer of multiple international magazines.
