Professor María del Consuelo Chapela is Medical Surgeon by the UNAM, with a Master´s in Community Medicine from the University of Edinburgh and a Doctorate in Philosophy, from the University of London.

She is a professor and researcher at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Xochimilco Campus in the area of ​​health and society research. Previous President of the International Association of Qualitative Inquiry; She is a member of the International Union of Promotion and Education for Health of the Ibero-American Network of Health Promoter Universities. She has been dedicated to developing the promotion of emancipatory health, its dissemination, and positioning in Ibero-America.

Within her lines of research, the promotion of emancipatory health, qualitative methodologies, and the training of human resources for health stand out. She has multiple presentations of works, courses, conferences, consultancies in different universities, and national and international events.
