Profile

Professor Ana María Soto Estrada has a Master's degree in Chemistry and is a Ph.D. candidate. She is a professor at the Department of Chemistry of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus and belongs to the academic Group No. UAM-I-CA-112, effective from 12/16/2020 to 12/15/2023 as a participant.

Professor Soto Estrada's line of research is the Synthesis, characterization, and applications of nanomaterials in catalysis, biochemistry, and medicine. Stability of olefinic and aromatic Silver(I) complexes.

Professor Soto Estrada has published 23 articles in indexed journals, and three articles in the Journal of the UAM Azcapotzalco Campus. She has participated in ten National and 40 International Congresses. She has advised 15 Social Service Projects and has directed 34 Final Projects equivalent to Bachelor's Thesis.

She has participated in elaborating new Programs of the mandatory and elective UEA of Inorganic Chemistry of the Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (2010). She also participated in the modification of the Study Programs of the mandatory and elective UEA of Inorganic Chemistry (2012).

Profesor Soto Estrada elaborated several practice packages and manuals for Chemistry Laboratories: Chemistry III Practice Manual for the General Subject Trunk (TGA) in 1986, and practice package for the Organic Chemistry I Laboratory (1986). Practice Packages for the Inorganic Chemistry I and Inorganic Chemistry II Laboratory for the Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (2001); practice package for the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory for the Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (2000).

She elaborated the practice manual entitled "Manual de Prácticas de Química Inorgánica III", winner of the "Tercer Concurso para la Elaboración de Libros de Texto y Material Didáctico" organized by the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering. This manual was published by the Editorial of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Iztapalapa Campus. Mexico, 1995.

She directed the Final Projects I and II to the student Berenice González Santiago with the work entitled "Synthesis of VO2+ Nanotubes from a Complete Hydrolysis Reaction" which was worthy of the "Research Award" granted by the UAM to undergraduate students, (2007).

She was the Coordinator of the Teaching Chemistry Laboratories of the Basic Sciences and Engineering Division (CBI) from September 2012 to May 2017. She organized the event "Conociendo la Química" (Getting to know Chemistry) for Upper Middle-Level students during this period. Also, he designed and presented the papers for this event. The workshops for students were held every two weeks during three school trimesters at UAM Unidad Iztapalapa. The event was held in the period from 2014 to 2015.

She has participated in the Science Dissemination events: Expo-UAM Iztapalapa Campus, Saturdays in Chemistry; she organized and participated for two years in a row in the event "Instituto Carlos Graef" with a workshop each year (2020-2021).

Published a Journalistic Article: Síntesis de Nanotubos de VOx por una Reacción de Hidrólisis Completa, Revista Cemanagua de la UAM Iztapalapa Campus, (2007). Collaborated in the article: Remote teaching before COVID-19: teaching experience in four subjects at UAM Iztapalapa Campus. It was published in the journal Educación Química (UNAM), in a Special Issue, December 2020.
