Profile

Dr. Carolina Medina Rivas studied Geography at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México. She holds a PhD and Master's degree in Water Sciences with a specialty in groundwater hydrology from the Inter-American Water Resources Center (CIRA) of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. She has a Diploma and specialized courses in spatial analysis by the Center for Research in Geospatial Information Sciences of CONHACYT. She has worked in the governmental sector at the Water Technical Commission of the State of Mexico, in the area of research and development of water policies, as well as in the private sector as a consultant for hydrogeological and water access projects.

Currently, she is a CONAHCYT researcher in the Researchers and Researchers for Mexico program, attached to the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities in the Department of Economics at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco Campus, where she is part of the research project on Spatial Economics of Water and the academic body of the Specialty in Economics and Water Management. Member of the National System of Researchers level 1.

She works in the area of water resources, Geographic Information Systems and spatial analysis, generation of water and socioeconomic geo-referenced databases, as well as in the evaluation of inequality in access to basic services such as drinking water, numerical flow modeling and evaluation of vulnerability and danger of contamination of aquifers.
