Profile

Professor Homero Jiménez Rabiela holds a Ph.D. in Sciences with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN). He earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technological Institute of Tlalnepantla and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Polytechnic Institute.

At the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), he has received recognition for 45 years of service, for having been the first Director of the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering at the Lerma Campus, and for leading the project Improvements in Carrier Tire Protection.

He has been recognized as a Candidate in the area of Engineering and Technological Development within Mexico’s National System of Researchers. He has also received distinctions and participated in evaluations and collaborations with the Institute of Science and Technology of the Federal District, the National Council of Science and Technology, the National System for Scientific and Technological Evaluation, and the Faculty Development Program, as well as with professional organizations such as the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, the Mexico City Metro System, the Association of University Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, and the Mexican Association of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.

His discipline is Mechanical Engineering, with specialization in Mechanical Design. Among his technological developments are Improvements in Carrier Tire Protection and Improved Insulating Signaling Joint, both registered with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property and developed in collaboration with institutional partners, with technological and social impact. He also contributed to the Design and Construction of a Prototype of a New Door System with an Opening Inhibitor Device on the Opposite Side, in collaboration with national teams.

He has been a speaker at more than 60 national and international conferences. He is the author of four books: Mechanisms; Educational Package on Mechanisms; Virtual Design of Function-Generating Mechanisms; and Notes on Computer-Aided Mechanical Drawing. He has published more than 20 articles in journals with varying levels of impact.

He has completed an International Diploma in Sustainable Airport Planning, a Diploma in Commercialization of Technologies in Global Markets, and an Advanced Diploma in Corrosion Engineering and Protection.

In the field of professional and academic administration, he served as Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Technological Institute of Ecatepec (1994–1995). At the Mexico City Metro System, he worked as an Engineer in the Tracks and Structures Department, Instructor at the Training and Development Institute, Project Coordinator, and Head of Projects in the Engineering and Technological Development Department. He also served as Director of Membership Promotion and Services (1987–1989) of the Mexican Association of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.

He is a member of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, the Mexican Association of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, and the Association of University Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.

His main professional and personal objective is to contribute to the responsible transformation of natural resources for the benefit of humanity, guided by principles of tolerance, inclusion, respect, flexibility, and transparency.
