Profile

Professor Luis Alfredo Rodríguez Morales holds a Ph.D. in Theory and History of Architecture and Design from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM); Industrial Designer graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana with a major in Product Development, Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Master in Product Development, Birmingham, England. He has also completed other studies, such as teaching diplomas. Member of the National System of Researchers.

Currently Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Unidad Cuajimalpa.

Professionally he has worked for Philips Goeilampenfabrik in Holland and England for Perkins & Powell and Decca Ltd. In Mexico, he was display design manager for El Palacio de Hierro, and as an independent designer, he has collaborated with several companies in the field of furniture, display, commercial design, and ceramic articles.

He has collaborated as a guest researcher with the Brazilian Design Laboratory (Florianópolis, Brazil), as an advisor to the Design Center of the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil, and with the Design Center of the State of Ceará. Brazil. He has also developed projects with the National Office of Industrial Design of Cuba.

Professor in the Master of Industrial Design at UNAM; in the Master of Design Management and Product Development at the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí; in the Master of Product Development at the Universidad de Guadalajara. Guest Professor in Cuba, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, and several national universities. Invited researcher at the Brazilian Design Laboratory (LBDI).

Head of the Department of Theory and Processes of Design (UAM Cuajimalpa Campus 2008-2013); coordinator of the Master in Strategic Design and Innovation (Universidad Iberoamericana 2006-2009); Director of the Department of Industrial and Graphic Design (Universidad Iberoamericana 1982-1987).

Author of more than 60 articles in national and foreign magazines. He has presented more than 90 papers at national and international congresses. He is a member of the editorial boards of the collections Comunicación y Diseño (Editorial Siglo XXI), Diseñarte (UAM Azcapotzalco Campus), Kepes (Universidad de Caldas, Colombia) and Strategic design (Unisinos, Brazil).
