Profile

Dr. Juan Manuel Oliveras and Alberú was born in Mexico City in January 1948. From 1979-to 1980, he studied the specialization in glazed and ceramic finishes, and ceramic engineering at the Meikoshi Institute of Nagoya, and modeling and ceramic molding at The company Sango Seikesho in the prefecture of Aichi Ken, Japan. In 1983, he concluded the Bachelor of Object Design at the School of Design of the National Institute of Fine Arts (Edimba), in 1998 he obtained the degree of Master in Industrial Design by the graduate in Industrial Design of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and in 2008 the degree of doctor in Science and Arts for the design of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus.

From 1983 to date, he has been a professor at the postgraduate in Industrial Design. Professor Specialist in ceramics and design in the Bachelors of Industrial Design at the Sciences and Arts for the Design, 39 years up to date at the UAM Xochimilco Campus.

Responsible for two collaboration agreements, one between the UAM and UAM Xochimilco Campus with promotion and Social Development A. C. (Prodes), another among the UAM Xochimilco Campus with innovating the ceramic tradition of Oaxaca.
