Profile

Professor Godofredo Vidal de la Rosa graduated from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), he was integrated as a part-time teacher to the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in 1979 and in 1986 he became an Assistant Professor.

Between 1979 and 2017, he was a member of the Department of Sociology at the UAM Azcapotzalco Campus; since 2017, he has been a professor in the Department of Social Relations of the UAM Xochimilco Campus.

He has published five books, of which he is a single author of three, and in the other two, he is coordinator and author. He has written about five dozens of scientific essays and is a member of the International Political Science Association.

Since he was a Bachelor's student, he has been interested in analyzing the historical conditions of modern democracies, especially the capacity of these regimes to induce and sustain material progress processes. The problems of social, technological, and economic development have been interested from the perspective of the agencies and political agents that induce them. Both the problems of political institutions and leaders have seemed to be central issues to examine social problems.

Professor Vidal has always adopted an interdisciplinary and global perspective for analyzing the social sciences.

He is currently writing a book with the results of his theoretical and empirical investigations on the development of the modern state and its role in society's processes and problems in the XXI century.

Professor Vidal's complementary interests have been theoretical evolutionary biology and technological change.
