Professor Josefina Vilar Mayor has a university education that is based on a bachelor's degree in classic literature obtained at the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), a Master's in Hispanic Linguistics and a Ph.D. in General Linguistics accredited by the University of Sorbonne in Paris.
From linguistics, semiotics, sociology, anthropology, and the theory of culture industries, she analyzes the behavior of open radio news in Mexico City concerning democratic processes. She also cares about the functional illiteracy suffered by the first-year students in the Xochimilco Campus of the UAM. Finally, her area of research is now examining the catastrophic situation in humanity in the 21st century.
