Profile

Dr. Ernesto Henry Turner Barragán pursued his higher education at renowned national and international institutions. He earned a Ph.D. in Economics, along with Diplomas of Specialization in Mathematical Economics, Applied Macroeconomics, and Iberian Studies from the University of Paris X – Nanterre, France. He completed a Master’s in Economics at El Colegio de México and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of UNAM.

Throughout his career, he has worked as a technical advisor for the Secretariat of Heritage and Industrial Development and the Secretariat of Programming and Budgeting. For over twenty years, he has served as a Professor-Researcher at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, where he has taught courses and supervised theses at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Within the university, he has also held the roles of Head of the Research Area in Theory and Economic Analysis, Coordinator of the Ph.D. Program in Economics, and Head of the Economics Department.

Dr. Turner Barragán is the author and editor of several books, including Cooperation and Conflict in the Pacific Basin(UAM and Miguel Ángel Porrúa, 2005), The Economic Development Model of Mexico and Taiwan (2007), and The Great Imbalances of the World Economy (UAM-A, 2014). Additionally, he has organized various seminars and symposia and has published numerous articles and book chapters, some of which have appeared in journals such as Portes from the University of Colima and Análisis Económico from UAM.
